SoCal Events and Meetings - February 2012

Here's the latest overview of the SoCal Chapter events and meetings for February 2012. Annual Strategic Planning meetings will be wrapping up this month and Chapter subcommittees will be fleshing out their campaign and program plans.   Almost every Chapter in SoCal is working on RAP efforts with possible bag bans lined up for Carpinteria, Santa Barbara and Ventura (Beacon), and City of LA.  South Bay will be working on pushing for bag bans in El Segundo, Hermosa and Redondo Beach, Huntington Beach is underway, and Dana Point may be coming before council this month.   Coastal wetland issues are heating up this year with Malibu Lagoon construction beginning June 1st and Ballona Wetlands restoration now approved and likely to go through the same contentious battles over aggressive restoration plans vs. low-impact community restoration proposals.
